Who is Christy Herdman? I am a(n) ...

  • Imaginative, curious mind, who finds novel solutions

  • Quick learner; willing to try anything once

  • Optimistic; a glass-half-full kinda gal

  • Empathetic, social justice ally

  • Fun loving, kid-at-heart

  • Compassionate soul

In my view, art has the power to help others express and understand their emotions in a nonviolent way. I use art as a means to empower children to develop emotional skills necessary for building resilience. I believe there is an interdependent relationship between all beings on earth. I stand with all humankind, no matter their cultural background, race, gender, or sexual orientation. I am committed to standing up against hate speech and racial inequality. I am a lifelong learner who continues to grow as an ally.

Thanks to the International Avenue Arts & Culture Community's (IAACC) sponsorship I was an Artist in Residence at Fuse33 Makerspace (April - June 2024).

Through my personal art practice and as a Certified Art Therapist at CRATE Art Therapy I hope to create a more compassionate society.

Created as a coping mechanism, Malleable makes for the best fidget toy. Due

#SelfCareSunday included taking a stroll around Central Memorial Park to check out the four murals created by LGBTQIA2S+ artists.

What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon; crafting comfort boxes with a lovely group of seniors at the Kind to Self workshop.

Participants explored the topic of comfort, investigating what they needed that would give them comfort. The seniors used
I stumbled across this amazing art by @3xudesign (an Etsy Seller). It immediately made me giggle.

It serves as a #mindfulmonday reminder: Be kind to yourself, it’s okay to feel the range of emotions that make us human. It is also good to cons
#flashbackfriday post features one of my works of art: /inˈten(t)SH(ə)n/. The circular form of this piece is representative of a mandala, a mindfulness apparatus.

I set out to create an intentional and mindful-focused art piece that could serve as a
